136. Balloon Fight

Kind of a dinky Joust clone, when it comes down to it, but I still come back to the endless, randomized "Mode C" from time to time. At one point I had a Twin Galaxies world record on it!

137. Boom Blox

A great physics system and clever use of the Wii Remote gave this one a strong base, but it was the inventive multiplayer modes that make this one an all-timer.

138. Blast Corps

The sleeper hit of the N64 launch window lineup, this game helped me learn how to use an analog thumbstick. Destroying buildings is always cathartic, especially with the wide variety of vehicles on offer here.

139. Frequency

This came out when I was deep in my rhythm game obsession and hooked me with its relatively simplistic "time button presses to the music" gameplay and excellent soundtrack.

140. Joust

I played a port of this game with a janky joystick on my parents' 386 PC as a kid, but grew to love it playing the two player mode on an actual arcade cabinet. I'm still not very good at it.

That is very interesting!

But also it feels liek you could come up with practically any adjustment coefficient to compare a CRT to a flat-screen plasma and justify it...

(This is a joke, but really how do you even measure comparative price for equal quality when today's completely average TVs couldn't be had for literally any amount of money back then?)

This matches how I felt about the demo

Yeah, I wish I had archived that link in a form hosted on Ars' servers, but I am relatively sure that's where I was getting my quotes

I believe all the info you need is in the article, which quotes from the evidence package and the four page letter that was sent to Twin Galaxies, if I recall correctly. Not sure what other info I can provide…

Fun fact: they suspended the game briefly for 9/11 to avoid tying up phone lines

Don't worry they're gonna reject even this
