It's frankly insulting the way this is described as maintaining "safety". It's an obvious trade off where making cars able to drive faster and more wreckless is traded for pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

At this point it's journalistic malpractice to report anything DHS says unless you've verified it independently. They lie breathlessly. You're doing a disservice to your readers and the community by repeating their statements.

I think it's simultaneously a tragedy that Bezos completely destroyed the Washington Post with no task consequences for himself, and also that he probably thought he could make it in to the Wall Street Journal and is failing spectacularly.

They're putting in protected bike lanes from Cermak to 13th like they did north of Roosevelt. Not sure what's happening for that block though, and hopefully it doesn't take as long as the north stretch did.

I'm seriously considering canceling my ongoing donations to the Sun Times due to this type of editorial framing. I just can't support a news organization that either willingly or incompetently trumpets fascist propoganda. It's depressing that what little local news remains is so pathetic.

Sun Times article is just as bad but did note that the officers rushing her to the hospital crashed their car and set it on fire.
