The royal family has no actual power. Fwiw, I think it's all kind of silly.

It's practically close to useless because of all the other factors involved. But to say there's not an element of intelligence just seems dishonest.
December 7, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Absolutely correct that you can crank the score by deliberate practice. Though, doing that also shows cognitive aptitude. I agree that it's almost useless in practice, but to say that there's *no* cognitive element seems absurd to me.

There's certainly some truth to that. Still, the political climate in DK is very different from the US one.
December 7, 2025 at 5:44 AM
They're collaborating with center-right parties. Not the far right parties (who I wouldn't hesitate to call nazis). It sucks, but we're nowhere close to a situation resembling the US one.

They're not entirely random, though. Pattern recognition, spatial ability, etc. Does it make sense to compare these across cultures? No. Can these skills be trained? Sure. Are they totally unrelated to cognition? No.

Unless you're a hat builder, no. Validity is another issue entirely. But what *is* it testing, then?
December 7, 2025 at 5:21 AM
These tests have a high instrumental reliability, so they're measuring *something*.
December 7, 2025 at 5:13 AM
They lost a lot of votes in the recent municipal elections, and this is probably the main reason.
December 7, 2025 at 4:39 AM
Sadly, yes. Also, they chose to cooperate with the right-wing parties over the left-wing ones when forming the current cabinet. They suck big time now (and have been for a while)!

🤷‍♂️

1) I don't think it is related to the accusations you're throwing at me whether these tests have utility or not. 2) Yes, fundamental research with no immediate utility should be funded, as it often pays off in unpredictable ways in the long run.
December 7, 2025 at 4:16 AM
Unfortunately, the exploitation part is true of most (probably all) Western countries.
December 7, 2025 at 4:11 AM
I don't really care about utility, but fwiw I've repeated stated that I think it's low. But there's the draft example above.

Denmark, if you must know.
