🤧Coughs, sneezes and sniffles – a sure sign that the respiratory illness season is just around the corner.

Happy to get my flu and Covid vaccine done at the pharmacy today.

Learning how public health is also an important element of the European Semester 2025.
There is information on health systems for each of the EU countries in annex plus challenges linked to healthcare.

A full day in Luxembourg attending the EU Public Health Expert Group meeting: a timely moment to talk about non-communicable diseases (and much more) on the eve of World Mental Health Day and as we mark breast cancer awareness month.

Did you know that there about 28 m² of green space per Brussels inhabitant?

I’ll continue the EU sports week challenge over the weekend, then Monday and Tuesday, but hopefully I’ll make also time for more walks after that too.

Some of my pictures from this week’s park walks.

It’s that time of year again.

Remember frequent hand washing and catching coughs/sneezes in a tissue can help reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses!

Crazy to think that 6 years ago today the EU and WHO brought hundreds of people together for a global vaccination summit in Brussels, united in the message that #VaccinesWork, and today, well we are where we are today…

It's World Hepatitis Day today.

There are 5 types of hepatitis viruses – A, B, C, D, E.
Viral hepatitis B & C are major health challenges.

But there's hope:
Vaccines dramatically reduce hepatitis B rates
Antiviral treatments can cure hepatitis C

Prevention, testing & treatment remain key.

Fully agree: some tips here from DG SANTE and @who.int but I’d also add another reminder to check in on more vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours when it gets hot.

It’s okay to share if you’re not doing okay.

This is why UNICEF Europe & Central Asia have joined forces with the European Commission to encourage conversations about mental health, as part of #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek.

“AI will bring precision, efficiency and insights for healthcare.”

The potential is not questioned at today’s health policy conference, but speakers stress the need to bolster trust and ensure it doesn’t create new disparities.

This Commission has placed an emphasis on competitiveness. When it comes to health, this also includes the cost and burden (financially and on the human level) of non-action. Patients are also important players for innovation.

Walking from darkness into light as a reminder that it’s okay not to be okay. Even in the darkest of times, you’re never alone.

On a more personal level, I’ll also be walking from #DarknessIntoLight this weekend. Together, we can light up the darkness and create a brighter future for everyone.

Did you know this is the European Immunisation Week?
It’s an annual reminder of the important role that vaccination plays in protecting our health.
Worth keeping an eye on @who.int, @ecdc.europa.eu and @ema.europa.eu this week.

Happy to join this year’s World Cancer Day event showcasing EU funded projects in the field of cancer.
When we launched the EU Cancer Plan discussions 5 years ago, there was a strong political commitment. Today, we see how the plan is making a difference to patients like me.
