Thanks! A Tohono O'odham artist by the name of Alfonso Chavez designed it for us. It's a stylized thunderbird (a Diné motif) with a version of fire colors for the nucleotides. Correct handedness for the DNA helix!

Agree to all. Funneling between reviewers accepting papers that cite them often starts with editors’ invite to review. As a guest editor, I also see compounding that, due to time, many reviewers recommend accepting w/o seemingly in-depth review. Many factors contribute to the observed outcome

Faculty want to be helpful to students, but our time is split, and we must prioritize students in which we have a prior (and formalized) commitment.

(And yes, I as an early career researcher am learning new ways to be more protective of my time, too. So this serves as a self-reminder, too.)
