I work on old cool shows/cartoons in my spare time aiming to bring them into HD land. I also sometimes stream games n'stuff over on twitch!

ts difficult to show the quality - since I have to re-encode it slightly different. Thats not the real problem, its putting it on here where it will get crushed down to potato vision. So take this as a sort of look through a murky window at an HD screen :D Again not finished & bad colour atm!

More shots from the Davinci render of Seans work - its not had any of the colour correction work yet (this is #StarTrekVoyager Season 7) so there is that. Still early days on this render pipeline in fusion too. Its very much a starter for ten!

Gah, I can barely look at the "standard" SD DVD anymore. Especially all the colour issues. #DS9 #DS9R

Looking over some excellent work done by my friend sean, aiming to get his fusion node tree to exe more efficiently in Davinci Resolve as it works but its slow atm. Its replicating his stellar AVISynth design on masking etc. I have a few ideas to test, here are some pre-grain injection shot of #VOY

So #DS9 via @ds9redefined.bsky.social is cooking through Season 2, take a look 👀😎✨🆒
This remember is LaserDisc sourced and upscaled...

Spending an age sorting the folder structure so it manageable all 14 seasons of DS9 & VOY
Ended up with this where each ep folder will house everything about it. Bare in mind this folder does not have my FFV1 archival LD copies yet or my working files, scripts etc
Thank god for big NASes 😉💾

Wow - thats awesome. Here is my effort with NGC253 (still fairly rough cut, its not had anything more than a fairly basic pass) Rented time from Telescope Live Rig
68 x 5 mins Blue
64 x 5 mins Green
44 x 5 mins Red
53 x 5 mins Luminance

"Sir we've had a 98% restoration of the Krenim empire" .... I feel his pain with a nearly solid AI model upscaling run ruined by the odd weird face and eyes @ mid range.

For those Nerds interested in the stacking of laserdiscs - since its analog data we can improve it with stacking copies (similar to astrophotography techniques)
Here you can see it rejected 31 frames, also see some frames it got rid of and how it monitors via MSE (Mean Square Error)

Probably posted this before but I do like that Laserdisc raw images smoke the god awful DVDs early seasons.

Having fun with depth maps! 😁 #DS9

Team found something interesting. "Babel" and "Captive Pursuit" look like they had a different transfer process to DVD. They've got dot crawl like this ... (check images)
Our guess has been that for the DVD transfers they used a composite to component conversion that only had a 2D filter. [Cont]

A wild S2 #DS9 appears .... :) #DS9R

Playing around with my friends Dot crawl Mask again.
The rough logic of the mask is it rotates the image and uses three (technically six) comb detectors to roughly find dot crawl, and it uses an alternative 1x AI processed clip to gen a chroma edge mask to limit the detection to chroma edges.

Just some upscaled #DS9 screenshots from the @ds9redefined.bsky.social Project.
I'm just getting back into the swing of things after summer and holidays. Lots to do in the limited spare time i get!
Hope everyone is well 🖖

It is fun going over old forum posts - here is April 2006 (a new rig arrives) Blast from the past..... Opty 170 CPU :)
PS - that motherboard from DFI was defective, the one before that was legendary!

Just to follow up - looks to be a Rec 709 conversion from NTSC (470m) but they did NOT do a gamma or whitepoint adjustment. If you do a correction with that understanding you get mighty close to Laserdisc colours, at least with a little sat boost.
These shots show its now much closer! 👍

Interesting looking at #StarTrekVoyager Season 4 DVDs
Its a season with a really bad magenta swing. Something deffo went pear shaped in the DVD authoring of that season as the Laserdiscs are not affected.
Anyone know anyone in the know from that time? Could be a setting was out, mishandling BT 601

Got to love prep work 😀
lossless mp4s from Laserdisc
So begins a lot of pre-prep. Getting each episode into a "ready to go" master state is the next step, so if I want to (in the future) air drop the latest tech on them
Its a lot of iterative work at the moment, you need it all rdy 2 go @ Ep1

Some other random shows from DVD ..... also winning!
August 7, 2025 at 1:02 AM
Some more .... :D
As you can see it fixes the god awful Janeway ready room "green"

Hot off the press sneak peak look at the work JonnyPoe (a fwend) has been cooking up.
We figured the colourspace and gamma conversion to 470m previously but something was still bugging us on wayward colours. Thats fixed now - he'll be documenting it soon - works on nearly all DVDs/LDs all look 👍

Its weird man - my brain just paints the rest of this in! haha #DS9

Found some childhood drawings by me looking through some old folders/books a while back - thought I would share here - quite pleased with my meshing of Chaos together!! #Warhammer40K #W40K
I did love my combat cards! Still got them all as well, plus a good few White Dwarf magazines.
