Wargaming, Star Wars stage combat, doing the Will of Chaos.
It's especially weird because more people means more people to play with!

My favorite little detail in that episode was the Sister of Silence (who's using actual BSL).

Once she realizes that nobody on the planet can understand her she just starts telling everyone they meet "This world is doomed and you're all going to die." It's great.

Don't forget hiring escorts to pose with you on a boat you don't own.

One showed up in The Tithe, to much wailing from this contingent.

Especially funny to see them whining about her being rude to Space Marines. Like, my dudes. That's just what the Custodes are like. It's been a thing in the setting for goddamn ever at this point.

This is the one hobby/franchise I can truthfully pull this card out for. I've been in this since I was 12. I got my start with 2nd Ed starter box, cardboard ork dreadnought and everything.

By such authority vested in me, anyone trying to chase new people away can crawl up a Hive Tyrant's rectum.

There's always been a contingent that engages with the hobby by bitching about books they don't read, models they don't collect, and a game they don't play.

I don't understand it either, but because we live in the worst timeline, there's somehow money to be made pandering to those people.

It's undercut somewhat by the Leader being comically out of shape and (allegedly) believing deeply weird, dumb shit about exercise.

Ray Kurzwell makes more sense if you think of Futurism as a secular religion, complete with an apocalypse that will usher in the Millennium.

Why does everything have to be so fucking *weird?* Why?

At least some of them aren't that dense. It's part of the con.

They love the idea of a future where any and all inequities or injustices can be attributed to a black box machine. No humans were involved in these decisions. No one is liable, the algorithm did it!

There's no version of this that ends in anything but embarrassing failure.

The seasteaders and libertarian cruise ship were confident about their dumb ideas too.

They believe that this is behavior that all men will engage in, if they get the chance. It's projection.

They assume that progressive denial and disgust at the accusations are performative. It was performative when Pastor Josh said it, after all.

You're assuming Israel wants peace.

The biggest and most prestigious participation trophy in the world, that's what.

And now Holmes is a consultant for a new startup run by her partner, that's going to use AI to diagnose patients from a small amount of blood.

We're so back.

Is it more stuff he's never heard and doesn't know anything about?

It's just a neverending stream of the dumbest shit imaginable.

How often can I teleport?

If there's no arbitrary interval there's all kinds of applications.

Addled white dude with incoherent politics and access to firearms.

It's always that.

I'm just waiting for the landmark precedent from the Pittsburgh Trials of 2027 that "I was only driving engagement" is not a valid defense for crimes against humanity.
