Hair is down to 8k triangles - I will try to shave it down to 5k tomorrow.
With some cleanup, I'm hoping to have the entire avatar at sub 40k, but I'm not sure how realistic this will be - the hands alone are at 8k.

Only hair, cheeks, and maw internals now, and then there's just... everything else left to do!

I feel this way of doing fluff really clicked for me!
Although it's more work, once I'm done welding the neck feathers and detailing the crotch, I really want to go back to the back of the legs and tail and redo them with this new workflow, they look blobby by comparison now. :(
