A busy railroad crossing in #Cycling City #Tokyo, where so many people line up on foot or on bikes, waiting for the train/s to pass. The majority of them are (who appear to be) women on a weekday afternoon, and most bikes are "mama chari" (mom's bikes). Driving here isn't a very wise idea!

A bike parkig outside a train station in the suburbs of #Cycling City #Tokyo for 1240 bikes in total, free for up to 2 hrs, 110 yen afterwards /use, 1890 yen /mo w/ subscription. Such parking provision is normal in many Japanese cities, of which both the users and providers should be proud.

Another pic of a could-be fietsstraat (bicycle street) in #Cycling City #Tokyo. When I call Tokyo a cycling city I'm referring to the people, who keep cycling despite the lack of real cycling infrastructure. Thereby I praise and celebrate ourselves (but not the government)!

A modest morning rush hour in #Cycling City #Tokyo: people on bikes waiting at the lights for their turn.
This is a low-car street, but as some drivers do drive here, people on bikes, who are NOT prioritized, stay squeezed to the curb - or use the shoulder (which is primarily for walking).

The person was actually cycling along a would-be expressway, currently under construction. It's part of a monstrous junction which will completely change the landscape and character of the area.
