Finally got around to Perfect Blue, know its on so many top animated movie lists, and I can see why.
An amazing thriller film that uses the medium so well, really messes with your head and keeps you guessing. Fascinating exploration of fame, mental illness and parasocial relationships. 10/10 imo

... I totally thought the drink the gator was holding was a potion at first and they were more concerned about the masquerade breaking. I am in urban fantasy mode it seems. Love the art, but had to share my silly.

But that plotline is resolved with hometown ex, the returning character, and the worried boyfriend starting a poly relationship. Or continue the on started by the program when it realized it was hurting the three by causing cheating. Just spitball ideas

Can make that part of the story about the maker's connections to people being rebuilt. The program gets treated like the child it is. The bad hallmark trope leads to the character that did the whole "find old boyfriend in town" do that because the program used the trope as reference.

I like it. I'd say there is at least one wholesome level of hypno where someone tries to make what looks like a mind virus forcing holiday cheer. But in reality the maker only wanted to use it on himself to remember holiday cheer in his youth. But his program becomes semi self aware and spreads.
