3/ If the just opposition to evil must transcend mere retaliation or revenge, seeking instead to break the cycle of violence, it cannot do so at the expense of justice.
A fragile concord may be reached, but true peace remains elusive when justice is relegated to a footnote...

2/ From a cynical political perspective, to stop this situation, dialogue and negotiations that bypass the question of justice and truth appear as the pragmatic and cheaper solution. Talk or perish. But what kind of peace can be built on silence, impunity, and amnesia?

The unilateral ceasefire declared by M23 is a ploy to ease concerns and reduce international pressure regarding the humanitarian situation. The Rwandan-backed rebellion continues to advance toward South Kivu, even as an EAC-SADC summit looms. Kigali is not interested with peace at all.
