A municipal deputy from Moscow, Alexei Gorinov, who is already serving a seven-year prison sentence for condemning the war in Ukraine, has been sentenced to an additional three years in prison for "justifying terrorism."

The Russian ruble is rapidly depreciating. While this is not necessarily bad for the Russian budget (more rubles to pay the military for the same volumes of oil), for the country's citizens, it signals that economic troubles have begun. Concern is growing.

Russian student Nikita Zhuravel was sentenced today to 13.5 years in prison for high treason. The prosecution claims he sent a photograph of a train carrying military equipment to Ukraine. Previously, he had been sentenced to 3.5 years for burning a Quran.
