So the main difference now is that Trump is pointing to the US itself the knives that have been originally in other countries' necks.

Or, as we say in Brazil, "pepper in other people's eyes is a refreshment". In other words, one can never know how bad it is until one suffers the same problem.

Besides these scandals, one can see how the US institutions helped "training" civil servants who would later create domestic instability by creating/fostering a series of problems that would end up in the disruption of the democratic standards of those countries. Even among traditional allies.

Sorry but I have to disagree (with the first part). Intervention has been a core feature of the US government for ages, regardless of the party. What changed was the method. For instance, NSA under Obama was found to be spying on the Brazilian president Rousseff to obtain info on oil reserves.

"The worst South American dictatorships"; yes, but guess who opened the path for them to exist? The US is doing domestically what it has been doing around the world for decades.

Paraphrasing, "First we came for the South Americans, for the Asians, for the Middle Easterns, and now we came for me"

TL;DR: One can't treat a wound by amputating the limb.

The situation in Venezuela is for sure not good, but awarding someone like MCM doesn't help at all. In fact, it only worsens everything.
October 11, 2025 at 10:06 AM
The Nobel Committee, after awarding the Hidankyo in 2024, and the ICAN in 2017, takes a sharp detour by awarding MCM, who is a military interventionist, climate change denialist, disinformation spreader. Well, they awarded Obama and 3 seconds later he started bombing the hell of Middle East...🤷‍♂️

Anyway, he couldn't receive it this year. Nominations end in January, maybe he wasn't even on the list. Or maybe yes, he's an egoistic lunatic - his supporters likewise. But still, he enters the bid for 2026.

So it's plausible that the Trump thing about wanting to receive the award was just a smokescreen to cover all these moves. And MCM emphasized her gratitude toward Trump for "everything he has done for Venezuela". Really?
October 11, 2025 at 10:06 AM
Oh, by the way, it seems MCM's name skyrocketed in two major betting sites a couple of hours before the announcement. And guess who is an advisor for one of them and a major investor in the other: yup, Trump's son.

The main difference is that in the case of Brazil, there's no dictatorship, and the Bolsonaro clan is has faced all legal procedures and has been correctly condemned upon committing a series of crimes.

There's no much difference between her and Eduardo Bolsonaro in Brazil, willing to sell (and destroy) his own country to free his corrupt, coup plotter father, by calling for undemocratic sanctions over members of the Brazilian judiciary. And I'm **sure** the Nobel committee would never award him.
October 11, 2025 at 10:06 AM
MCM believes her country should be military invaded by the US, and already said she would give $1.7 **trillion** in contracts to the US if she becomes president (www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/w...).

This could lead to a serious conflict that only benefits US corporate greed.
