It is definitely a game worth trying if you get the chance. Not something you need to play if you are strongly disinterested.

I think the love for the game is two fold. The story and the gameplay. From the outside neither were very interesting to me too. But the gameplay hooked me pretty hard, and while I never 100% cared about the story. I finished the game for the battle mechanics and deeper RPG systems.
