Asked about the letter and whether he was more open to tapping into the fund eight years after the state received a bond rating downgrade for pulling from it, House Speaker Ron Mariano on Tuesday called the situation “unprecedented times.” “We don’t know how long this federal government is going to be shut down,” Mariano said. “So we’re concerned about drawing down anything from the rainy day fund, we wanted to be perfectly clear where the parameters were and what we are able to do to make sure our constituents can meet the challenges that are being faced by the federal shutdown.”

Hi, Darth! I’m working on a Calder-esque wire mobile as a gift, using hopelessly scratched CDs & DVDs as a substrate. Here are a couple of test pieces I threw together to see how different materials/sealants would play with epoxy-resin topcoat (not applied yet, in this vid).

The shooting occurred at Champagnie’s apartment on Dana Avenue in Hyde Park on June 14, 2023. Another BPD officer, identified as Eric MacPherson, was also present although “he was in the shower at the time of the discharge.” So as his pal was taking a shower, Champagnie was for some reason handling his buddy’s gun – a loaded Glock 43X. “Officer Champagnie accidentally discharged one round, which went through the wall and into the neighboring apartment. The round traveled through the headboard where (neighbor) Ryan Kluska was sleeping, through the comforter, and another wall before striking the stove and stopping.”

Champagnie, who joined BPD after graduating from the Police Academy in November 2022, has faced numerous misconduct complaints, one stemming from a June 2023 incident, just days before Simmons’ arrest, with the officer “improperly handling a firearm,” causing it to discharge and damage property. “Had he not received special treatment during his first instance of misconduct, this tragedy might never have occurred,” Cloud told the Herald. “We hope he is held accountable.”
