Ah, it’s time for our newest baseball tradition: the annual “fuck the dodgers!”

I’m all for the union, and I don’t give a shit about Billionaires’ money.
$60m per (a projected) 5 WAR is just unhinged roster management.

I wish them nothing but the worst.

How do the #RedSox shed ~$5m in salary, while also adding to the team?
Salary dump Hicks ($10m). He can eat innings for anyone.
Pair him with an OF, acquire an IF.

Better yet..? Don’t shed salary.
Sign more guys.
Pay the tax.
Win baseball games.
Consider it an investment into an appreciating asset.

Just saying, I’d trade half the farm for Junior Caminero, and he happens to be on the only team that might actually do it.

Back to the drawing board for the #RedSox trade market.

You can never have too many starters. But, they now have a surplus of MLB level starters. As it stands, there’s 1 rotation spot for Sandoval, Oviedo, Crawford, Tolle, Early, & Harrison.

At the same time, they don’t have a complete infield.
January 14, 2026 at 8:58 PM
Feel the same way. Definitely makes the team better, which should always be paramount.

Although a high GB pitcher needs an infield…
I like Ranger Suarez, super interesting control / bad contact / big game guy... but after doing the Gray deal, paying market rate for Suarez, knocking a decent pitcher out of the rotation, losing the bonus pool money and picks... not a huge fan of the overall operation.

If the reported 5/165 offer (with huge deferrals) is accurate, I’m guessing the AAV would be a tidy 29ish million, conveniently keeping them right underneath the tax threshold.

If the #RedSox did have a chance to counter, I think they chose not to, due to their self imposed budget (which is absurd)

The initial reactions I’ve heard are more trade leaning than signing leading. But, who knows. I’d take Tucker and build around him and Anthony and trade whoever else to make it work no problem.

The real question with Bregman & the #RedSox is:
Had they not shipped out Raffy so disrespectfully (and dragged him in the media), would he still have required a no trade clause?

IMO, they made their bed & shit in it.

Could you imagine watching from the plane as Raffy gets yanked from the tarmac?
January 12, 2026 at 4:27 AM
Stoves hot…
Bregman to the Cubs, damn. That’s fine though. Would’ve made the #RedSox better, but there are other ways to improve the team.
Hope this is the precursor to a Hoerner trade and not a Bichette signing.
Trading for Nico makes so much sense, and not just because he has great name.
January 11, 2026 at 6:25 AM
Could you imagine the disrespect if the #RedSox give Bichette (a measurably worse defender, and arguably worse hitter) a contract comparable (8 year, $255m remaining) to Raffy’s?
January 9, 2026 at 6:39 PM
Bichette’s performance and profile don’t justify a $300m contract.
If that’s what he wants, then take a pillow contract with the Jays and prove it. He’ll be 28 next year, and would once again be the top infielder on the market.
No chance the #RedSox are anywhere close to that, nor should they be.

Martinelli showing his character, once again. What a piece of shit.
Hopefully Bradley is ok. Good on the boys for standing up for him.

The #RedSox not signing a FA isn’t the issue.
They’ve added $40m+ in new salary via trade. That’s middle of the pack, & above NYY.
If they don’t value the available free agents, & with the strength of the farm, trades make sense.
My gripe is: these FAs can help the team, and should be valued higher!
January 8, 2026 at 4:13 PM
The easy route for the #RedSox is:
- sign Bregman for too much
- Mayer/Romy platoon 2B
- Roman, JD, Masa, Wilyer and KC cycle OF/DH
- Navigate injuries & make necessary moves at the deadline

Defense is improved some with Contreras and part time Mayer, but to be successful they need it to be great*
January 7, 2026 at 9:26 PM
1) Wilyer (<1m), Hicks (10m) ↔️ CHC 2B Hoerner (12m)
2) Sign RF Kyle Tucker 10/360m front loaded, huge incentives & with deferrals AAV is ~32m
3) Duran (7.7m) ↔️ DET OF Clark, RP Vest (~3m)

Payroll stays below the 2nd threshold.
Mayer/Romy 3B platoon, KC 4th OF, Masa DH.
Would be painful, but better.
January 7, 2026 at 6:43 PM
If it’s me I trade Wilyer to CHC for a year of Hoerner intending to extend him. I would hate to see Wilyer go, but for a 4 WAR 28y/o player at a position of need, it makes sense.

Breslow has history with CHC, allows Suzuki to DH, pairs PCA with GG RF defense, balances the lineup, with cost control.
January 2, 2026 at 6:41 PM
I hope the #RedSox get Imai.
1) you can never have enough good pitching, 2) I think he’s going to be very good, and 3) he’s one of the few players to come over and not automatically join the dodgers.

He’s not Breslow/Bailey’s type, but they should be acquiring guys that can help the team regardless

Can’t wait to wear my Marcelo Mayer home jersey next year.

Heyyyyyy, 4 months early.
Let’s go Sox.
What are the odds the Cards would move Contreras? He’d address the #RedSox 1B sitch, with ~technically~ some C depth (in case of injury to Narvi or Wong). They have the money. Bigger trade brings Helsley too.
I’d guess they’d want to shed the money, and Chaim can take back the prospects he picked.
December 22, 2025 at 2:01 AM
My optimistic view is that the #RedSox have a secret verbal agreement with a big free agent, but need to make space on the roster and want to maintain leverage.
The Breslow front office has notably prevented leaks, so not unfounded.

Agreement with Tucker for 10/350, but need to trade JD and Wilyer?
December 16, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Yaz signing with the Braves closes the door on a potential trade with the #RedSox. I felt they would’ve been a suitor for one of the Sox’s lefty OFs, and they have impact arms that could go back. Oh well!
December 11, 2025 at 4:55 PM
Schwarber was never going to work with the #RedSox lineup.
I shouldn’t be surprised the fan base got their hopes up, he was great when he was here, but they’ve made it crystal clear they won’t roster a full time DH.
5/30m is huge money for his age/position. I hope it works out for the Phils!
December 9, 2025 at 5:19 PM
That’s not a fuckin penalty, and the bias this year is brutally tiresome. #LIVvLEE
December 6, 2025 at 7:12 PM
Honestly, although Ketel is a great player and would be an excellent addition to the #RedSox, I hope he doesn’t come to Boston.
The media has been so shitty to him throughout the years, and as we’ve seen here time and again, the Sox beat writers would be terrible to him. He doesn’t deserve that.
