To get more clicks to their misinformation piece, they also write "Urgent alert issued to anyone who uses Gmail". But if you look at the source, Gmail or Google is not mentioned at all. haveibeenpwned.com/Breach/Synth...

A bunch of sites (not Gmail) have leaked passwords over the years. In April, someone pasted them all into one big document. Some people use the same password on multiple sites. These users are then vulnerable on all those sites. One famous site which is good to use to get clicks happens to be Gmail.

If by "they" you mean Gmail, it's because it didn't happen to Gmail. This article is click bait misrepresenting what actually happened.
