The devs are suffering because of their executives, the community is suffering because of poor management, and Starbreeze, instead of making the execs explains themselves uses Almir Listo, the interim Game Director of Payday 3, as a human shield (he actually loves the franchise).

Alongside these changes, huge layoffs just happened lately at Starbreeze, and additionally, the CEO straight up ignores the player feedback, calling the implementation of Payday 3's voice chat warmly welcome by players... too bad he missed the fact THAT THERE IS NO PUSH TO TALK

Stabreeze has a history of handling licensed games made for no one poorly. Case and point.

The issue is that Starbreeze is making a game... no one from their core demographic will buy. ADDITIONALLY, they are hurting their core demographic by pulling resources from Payday 3 when it needs it the most. The game did NOT recover fully and, while playable, needs ton of work.

Project Baxter is an upcoming licensed Dungeons & Dragons game developed by Starbreeze Studios, the studio behind the Payday franchise. It is set to release in 2026 and from what we know, it's a co-op urban crawler meant to be a replayable and reactive experience.
