Not only am I a journalism historian but I used to work for an architecture magazine. I'm well-qualified to be a nerd on this topic, and I am, indeed, very proud!

But which one? I can think of four that should be on any high school tour of NYC… The current one across from Port Authority, the old 43rd Street hulk, the one where the ball drops that is why it's called *Times* Square, and the one down by City Hall… It's really a whole day.

I agree with your understanding of it, but also that there is a kind of independent journalism that we don't have a good word for yet. My department has begun bumping into that problem in curriculum development. We don't have an answer yet though!
