Silence and dark. A void of even, temperate liquid. This wasn't even her Punishment. No, This was Kleone's gifting. The punishment as a nereid, for defying and embarrassing the Lord of Waves, came in needles, and the pain being gene wrought. Nereids are born for the vast ocean, to stand beside Lord Poseidon. For those unworthy, flesh is made soft and intolerant to the salt water they called home. No longer are they allowed the land either, not for long. for such Nereids, their fate is imprisonment the scant bodies of fresh water of Olympus. Such wells have either functions or owners. Such is the fate of those nereids not found compliant to the whims of the sea itself. The most nightmarish fate Poseidon herself could imagine. To be contained. To be owned. To be a pet for a greater power. Legs, no, they were closer to fins now; tucked close to her chest. each limb trailed in sensitive azure gossamer flesh. Far from the dense powerful legs she once had. even holding them to her chest like this was a biting overstimulation. Her body was no longer suited for war and exploration. Kleone, once an intelligence officer of the Corinth; was now a fragile decoration; to adorn some lording's manor, or their thighs. spindly tendrils of deep blue drifted around her as the little thing inside awoke, stretching her limbs tentatively. Aphrodite had heard that nereids like these, were altered drastically and made pliable; yet this wasn't remotely a bio engineered war drone before her. long, willowy limbs lacked the firm strength of her sisters. The only sign this being once serve a function of war, were ball jointed prosthetics beginning at each elbow. Little ribbon wires ended in an illuminated tip; extending like jellyfish tentacles from the joints. At a glance, optimizations for connecting to electronic systems. Aphrodite immediately thought she the wrong lord to present a slender bodied wisp. Enticing as she looked, compassion would win out before other desires. She was almost taken aback when the girl's eye's fluttered open. These weren't the heartless cephalopod orbs she expected. They were scintillant of pink and sea green, painfully human, and instantly heartbreaking. She could only imagine this choice in colors was supposed to appeal to her. A moment that felt both too long and too short, the nereid broke eye contact. her moment of doe-like anxiety broken upon seeing the Lord of Desire, finally overridden by unspoken, biting grief. She turned herself weakly away from Aphrodite, closing her eyes, as if willing herself back to the void. "They say if you can turn your Gaze from me, Shiny little thing, that your either deathly foolish or you have the resolve of a hero." If you ever needed to move the Lord of Desire to action, you could do worse than a presenting her with a pitiful woman, with big sad eyes. A wave to dismiss the automatons, but she figured they would take their time, they would record what they were allowed of the nereid's judgement, to return to their master. There would be no judgement here, not as Aphrodite shines her best smile.
