I don't agree that this is a case of complexity being problematic, but rather a simplistic solution applied to a complex problem.

Thing is, VAT is simple, too simple. The issue is that VAT is a regressive sales tax. You have to pay the same rate no matter whether you're on minimum wage or a billionaire. And people on low income will inherently spend a significantly higher part of their income on sales tax'ed things.

Fucking "rotting West", this was in Austria, which as a member of the so-called "morally superior" "civilised world" also expects refugees to survive on 260 EUR + 150 max for rent (iirc) per month before they get a job. 💀💀💀💀💀)

…was having a panic attack, or at least that's how I remember it, my mom has been gaslighting me about it ever since; and the second first immediately tried to put me on antidepressants and then eventually forced me to do the diagnosis with some practitioner despite me having social anxiety.

The wonders of untreated ADHD or depression (idk my two last attempts to figure it out ended in quite wild ways, with the first so-called therapist trying to sell me on some summer camp bullshit and when I wasn't interested threatening to institutionalise me because I looked at her wrong, while I…

See, for me the best part is feeling guilty about not doing it, especially when doing something that the project would make just so much nicer... 😭

Ah, starting things... Massively wide scope projects combine just so well with executive dysfunction and all. Good thing I only am interested in such projects (I never get anything done)

Also this... They've just turned android into iOS. With technically "open" source code.
A new layer of security for certified Android devices
Starting in 2026 and in select countries first, Android apps must be registered to a verified developer in order to be installed.

…when the negative aspects of their actions visibly outweight the positive aspects. This almost feels like a version of dogwhistles like how Nazis like to use them. Plausible deniability and all.

…world it's straight up in a dystopian state, where you simply don't down the device you paid for, but the device is a tool through which the company can continuously exploit, control, spy on you and so on. Basically I'm saying that it's completely misguided to give companies benefit of the doubt…

Secure boot is a huge double edged sword. I will *only* accept it as a security feature, when it doesn't restrict user's freedom or give the company extra control, which it absolutely does. It's used to enforce DigitalRestrictionsManagement and so on. In the mobile and consumer electronics…

Of course companies don't always intend harm, but pretty much universally when the owners of those companies don't actually have a stake in those decisions. The people who work at these companies aren't evil, their labour is used for evil by the hierarchical structure of those companies.

…consciously and critically adopt these views or understand what they really entail and what they lead to. So it's unfair to blame individuals. But of course I'm only human after all 🎵, so generally my hostility is directly proportional to the amount of willful ignorance.

I mean, not that we have an active relationship of any kind or any stake in each others lives, so don't think that's exactly possible. Also, I do consider politics very significant and see mainstream views as a direct invite for violence against all of humanity. Of course most people don't…

Once again out of order, thanks bsky. Amazon being so large that nobody can compete isn't a bug or some isolated incident that can be blamed on some individual, it's simply the logical consequence of profit motive. This is simply economics of scale. A large corporation will always be able to beat…

…so called "civilised" world, will *never* contain capitalism. And if we don't have a centralised undemocratic government, there's no reason to bother with capitalism and private property in the first place.
August 29, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Oh this isn't a case of Amazon only being evil due to being big. It never is. Companies become so big through being exploitative and anticompetitive. This is simply the unavoidable consequence of capitalism. A centralised undemocratic government like we have all over the world including in the…

I do love going into the very deep end of a topic completely unprompted eh? Sorry for the yet another wall of text with a bunch of quite radical stuff that really needs a lot more systematic and organised argumentation xd.

…without question, you can make people commit the worst atrocities, tolerate terrible abuse, fall for cults of personality and megalomaniacs branding themselves as the next coming of Jesus, and laundering this idea through faith and by playing up on preexisting biases and assumptions.

…"God testing your faith", suddenly it doesn't matter whether you're able to live a fulfilling life, it doesn't matter if you're exploited. Suddenly there's no reason to fight for the right to a dignified life, but a reason to revert back to 2000+ year old self-contradicting tradition from a book…

And this is honestly a point where religion fits into the picture in a quite shocking way. I've seen a lot of people claim something like "why shouldn't we allow people to have faith if it provides them with meaning?" My answer is, notice how when religion provides meaning and everything is just…
