Close second is Crash Team Racing.
Purely from a gameplay standpoint this was probably my favorite of the year and spent hours upon hours unlocking new characters and skins, online was lots of fun too!

and the char designs were charming, so after playing the whole thing I was really captivated, loved the soundtrack, loved raising the characters, their individual stories and relationships.
I beat the game twice, I wanted to do Black Eagles route but couldn't bring myself to do it haha.
