Structural Support for individual tubes is a communal effort, although many/most are hermaphrodites so it’s unlikely they would have the occasional bonk with their neighbours - socializing is probably unnecessary

This is a common form of iron concretion, possibly septarian (as someone else suggested) the kind you get in iron pans, bog iron etc. Probably a mixture of limonite, goethite, and possibly some hematite - all iron oxides with low magnetic susceptibility - so no or very weak response from a magnet.

Sadly the Hamlin pool stroms are no longer accessible - fenced off - except from a distance. The boardwalk was damaged during a cyclone 2021 and still hasn't been replaced. But I did see them from about 50-80 m away.

Colour theory (as An adjunct to this mathematical theorem) was used by the post- impressionist pointillists, but in their case they were also interested in merging of colours as well as contrasts

Lava tubes are usually at very shallow depths with physical connections to the surface. So atmospheric pressure would still be 92 times that on Earth and temperatures 400C or more. Even robotics will have a hard time surviving

Is there a fabric?
Groundmass or matrix? Do they know the difference?
Can they zoom in - identify cleavage-twin planes in the phenocrysts.
