yeah, for sure. i think it can be a difficult conversation for a lot of reasons, but my general feeling as part of a fandom audience is not everything is for me and it's not personal if i can't/don't engage, and as a creator i have to respect people will feel the same way about my work too

i personally tend to get more attached to OCs, so in the case where my interests overlap it's like hell yeah two (or more) great tastes together LOL but it's totally fine and sometimes more interesting if they don't 😂 i'm not just here for one thing even if i have specific flavor brain rot lmao

at the same time it's impossible for everyone in a space to vibe with every single person's interpretation of a character, ship, etc, (especially if it's a popular character), and i also think it's very cool and healthy to both acknowledge and internalize that without being an asshole about it
