If all else fails, you could try to find light grey pens/inks to do lineart? Should work if they are waterproof?

Oh! That I can totally understand as I do that too often 😂
I don't think it's a bad habit though. Since taking a break from a piece allows your eyes to cool down from seeing the same thing. When you're switching between pieces often, you'll more likely see the mistakes early on in the process.
