Interesting that "Diptera were strongly attracted towards green and blue light" - I need to get some new light sources for my trap!
New study confirms that short wavelength light (UV & blue) attracts the most nocturnal insects & that intensity increases attraction for all colours. Longer wavelength & lower intensity outdoor lights should reduce biodiversity impacts resjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... #teammoth 🌍

These wood ants are edge specialists... but not all edges are equal. Jacob Podesta used a decade of population expansion data to show that wood ants spread more quickly along certain edges, depending on the edge orientation. Currently available open access here:

Last night the Government pulled the rug out from under what little nature remains in the UK. Please tell your MP that this is not OK! #Planning&InfrastructureBill #P&IBill

Tell the UK Government they must do better for nature!
I've just emailed my MP to tell them what nature means to me and that I want it to stay protected. Will you take action too?

I've had a busy 2025 and this is why! My first public mural in collaboration with Becky Carrozza. On Friday, we presented all 10 panels to the public. 110 species included in this continuous landscape.
So many people to thank. Especial thanks to
@kitenet.bsky.social and other ecologists.
So thrilled to witness this 10 metre long artwork by Anna Dillon and Becky Carrozza at the launch of the Springline Project. Absolutely mesmerising artwork of the very highest standard. Proud to have been involved and also to have pulled the sheet off!
