Let me revise that after comparing a message from a legit sit that was marked as spam in icloud compared to one hat wasn't

The only differnce really is the content of the message, not the headers themselves.

So yeah.

But as I was trying to say, the big boys treat email as dark arts these days 😥

only major "issue" I see is that its being sent via sendgrid and via one fo their rDNS hostnames. BUT I've got messages from the same website in my inbox from send grid too. So yeah fuck knows why icloud marked it as spam!`
December 13, 2025 at 5:49 AM
I mean everything else seems to check out. no issues with dkim, spf, being sent from a legit mailer, etc *(though its nearly 6 am and I'm just about to go to bed, so yeah prob missing something).
December 13, 2025 at 5:47 AM
Oh, Not tring to fool you, just don't want that other image online for everyone :-P

But yeah a "fun" website, emailed me via icloud and it got spammed. For some reaon that was spammed for isufficicant dmarc. (thougj at first glance I don't see whats wrong with it). So yeah just trying to be helpful

December 13, 2025 at 5:35 AM
FUCK.... I missed the Halflife refence!!! I will go to sleep in shame! With NOC's telling me "My god, what are you doing?"""
December 13, 2025 at 5:17 AM
Its also rated A in Popness from Top Rated Local ISP who has a monopoly!!!!! Everyone loves funco!!!

TBF, I thankfully live in an area that has an altnet. I could get 10gig up/down sysmetric, but I live on my own and 1gig sysmetric is fine for me! So yeah, don't really have to deal with ISP bull
December 13, 2025 at 5:15 AM
Defo an issue with the brand of popcorn your trying to pop. Have you tried popped FUNCO branded popcorn, Its the best rated brand of popcorn to pop in your FUNCO branded microwave!
December 13, 2025 at 5:12 AM
On the incoming side. I've only had to manually override a handful of expected incoming mail as not spam on Apple. much less then I did on google tbh. But apples whole stick is not revealing to much detailed NDRs as they are chasing that privacy stitch.
December 13, 2025 at 5:10 AM
Side note: cheers for the chat / rant! It was a load off my chest! So thanks for that :-)
December 13, 2025 at 4:59 AM
So I caved, and gave them the money to just let them deal with it. But honestly. I should move away from them cause well its Apple :-P (i.e. what if I want to leave their ecosystem. I should move sooner rather than later)
December 13, 2025 at 4:27 AM
But yeah, Iwill agree I could actually speak to people at MS when it can to delieveribilty. But when it came to personal domains, it came to the balancing act of "Do I deal with these requirements" or "do I just least someone else deal with it?" and atm, Apple want like $1 per month of me for it.
December 13, 2025 at 4:27 AM
> I can't be fucked to run my own mail servers at this point

And thats the point! We should be able to. But those of us who can (and prob should) just decide its not worth the hassle any more.
December 13, 2025 at 4:23 AM
on google workspace back when it was free for peronal use. Its a shame, because email was one of the big first decentralized things we had, and we gave it away to the big boys, and now if you don't play in their sandbox they don't want to share 😢)
December 13, 2025 at 4:09 AM
(Got invited into gmail back in the prelease beta days. Ran most of my domains on my own server back then, but with the rules not only gmail enforce (but also MS) these days, its a right PITA to get delieverability on them unless you are sending via the big boys, though I did also run a few domains
December 13, 2025 at 4:09 AM
But its just personal mail running on my domains atm, but will prob be moving them soon
December 13, 2025 at 4:03 AM
Used to run my own mail servers, but with the hassle that comes with that I currently just let Apple deal with it (as i'm in that eco system), but nothing wrong with proton or fastmail if you just want something that works when balancing "how paaranoid do I need to be".

IMO Mozilla should have jumped ship around the time Chrome launched, but they have rested on their laurels since then.

(Heck I remember the days Google were paying website owner to promote FF over IE... We should have known back then... But hindsight is 20/20)
December 13, 2025 at 3:54 AM
Wel excluding my perosnal issues with the foundation. They had plently of time to see the writing on the wall. Mozilla got handed a get out of jail free card from the US courts allowing to still fund 3rd party browsers via default searh placement.
December 13, 2025 at 3:54 AM
My gmail account date back to 2004 ish. So yeha 20 years of regret for me :-(
December 13, 2025 at 3:48 AM
Yeah, it was around that time I should have moved people away from Chrome and on to FF. ATM for me its a mixtue of Brave and FF simply because of extention support (I get better support on Brave then I do on FF)
December 13, 2025 at 3:41 AM
I can't help but think, "If we hadn't pushed Chrome on people" Firefox would have been in a better position than it is in now, and would actually be something I could recommend to people.

I'm sorry Firefox, I really am.

(Mozilla foundation though, yeah you can stil get fucked).
December 13, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Just a shame that the alt's in the browser market are scummy in their own ways. But at least both major (cross platform) alts to chrome are no where as scummy as Chrome.

One of my biggest regrets as a techie is recommending chrome to people in its early days!

TBF, those are margin of error numbers :-P

But, as a YT addict, the face in the thumbnail does help my brain go "Oh, thats a Jeff video, that most likely worth a watch *click*".
