‘It’s not like the SS are coming’: Italy bids to quell ICE furor ahead of Winter Olympics - Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani quoted in Politico Europe - sort of sums up ICE nicely, and from a Foreign Minister no less.
January 27, 2026 at 5:04 PM
"ICE agents will have a security role at Milan-Cortina Olympics, US sources say" - story broke Monday morning in Italy, needless to say causing a furore. Original story was posted in 'Il Fatto Quotidiano' last Friday. Confusion of US normal security overseas personnel with ICE?

So here's a thing: you have just paid $50k for a brand new EV and decide to lease it out to the latest Robotaxi Fleet company whatever. Sunday morning you find the seats covevered in vomit & cigarettes burns on the dashboard. So that’s what you want to do to your $50k car?

"Venezuela’s acting president says she has had “enough” of Washington’s orders" - that didn't take long, now who would have thought 🤔?!

These Russian casualties numbers are beyond ridiculous. Hard to believe Russian lives are so cheap.

Bovino and his agents depatures: now we got TACO ICE. No guesses as to which flavour though 😂

Saudi Arabia has confirmed t won’t be ready to host the Asian Winter Games in 2029 at Trojena, a planned ski resort in the mountains of NEOM. This was such dumb idea in the first place, why would anyone be surprised?
January 26, 2026 at 3:45 PM
So what's the border czar, Tom Homan, going to achieve in Minneapolis? And what does this mean for Bovino's role? And by the way, ICE still does not have a confirmed head, only an Acting Director, Todd M. Lyons.

60 CEOs of Minnesota-based companies signed a letter urging “state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions.” The companies said the recent tumult in Minnesota has caused “widespread disruption and tragic loss of life.” - pushback time, finally.

Continued headlines by major news services, like 'Videos Contradict U.S. Account of Minneapolis Shooting by Federal Agents' are disgraceful: there's absolutely nothing contradictory about a guy who gets shot 10 times while lying on the ground.
January 25, 2026 at 2:19 PM
It's something else for a civilised country to subdue protestors, throw them to the ground, and after disarming them, shoot them like a dog, not once but 10 times. At least the Iranian ICE equivalents fired randomly into crowds, even if that's in no way a justification.

Political Debanking. Thought that was what all politicians do when they get their hands on tax payer money? It disappears so fast it doesn't get near any banks.

Creates more questions than answers Semafor Media's exclusive on the US TikTok deal supposedly 'signed off' on: does the US get unfettered access to the algorithm? What about the rest of the world, we still under Bytdance?

Hungary is the first 'European' country to join the so-called Board of Peace. Entry ticket: $1 billion, and that for a country that gets up to $8 billion a year in EU funding. Brussels: turn off the tap!

"Macron was more unbuttoned - to say the least...several of us thought we heard the President asking, under his breath, whether the whole crisis was about the size of someone’s “dick”. From Adam Tooze's SubStack 'Chartbook' - Davos reporting from on the ground.

Yet more Greenland Taco as Trump calls off the related tariffs. Call the bluff, as the Europeans did by cancelling the earlier tariff agreements, and he folds. That and the financial markets were getting yippy again.

Zelemsky cancelled his Davos appearance for now citing the timed overnight massive Russian attack on Ukraine infrastructure. Also, why bother when Trump blames it, and everything else, on him anyway?
