Another day, another glorious Christmas tree!

It's day 3 and we're in Hesleden in County Durham 🎄

Thank you to Antony who sent this lovely pic of his local tree 🌟

We’re taking action to help people cut their energy bills!❄️

I loved meeting Val. Her home was toasty warm thanks to her solar panels and insulation!

The North East Warm Homes service will provide free, expert advice right across our region!

Visit northeast-warmhomes.co.uk or call 0808 175 9345.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Tonight's beautiful tree is in Greenside. Thank you lovely local resident Suzi for sharing. 🎄

Starting to feel more festive by the day ❄️

I've love seeing beautiful Christmas trees popping up across the North East🎄

Watch what happens when you tell Reform that thousands of real North East workers, in good jobs right now will lose those jobs because of Nigel Farage’s bizarre and false ideology.

We’ve #AdEnough.

From today, we're kicking junk food adverts off the Metro. 🚇

We're joining forces with Jamie Oliver and his AdEnough campaign so kids won’t be bombarded by unhealthy ads on the Metro.

I’m delighted we’ve taken action and I hope its just the start...

I really enjoyed our Mayor Meets session in Prudhoe - talking all things public transport

The frustrations in the room made clear that our buses must come back under public control. 🚌

I’m well underway with this. It’s critical that our buses start working for people again, rather than profit!

I know Lumiere in Durham this week will show just why it should never have been cut.

I was disappointed to not be told before the decision - especially as we financially backed the event.

I've committed looking at options to save this festival that's been a phenomenal success story for our region.

On Remembrance Sunday, we remember those that fought for our freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We give thanks to those that serve and have served in our Armed Forced.

It was an honour to spend this morning attending the Remembrance service in Sunderland.

#WeRememberThem. #LestWeForget

Too many people are on council waiting lists waiting for a house.

I’ll make sure the £1.1bn we’ve got from Govt for the NE will build the homes we need.

We're on it now, with 705 homes already in Gateshead, Easington, Ashington and other areas too.

But we will do more. This is just the start.

Junk food harms kids.

@jamieoliveroffical.bsky.social and I are taking a stand and backing his #AdEnough campaign by banning junk food adverts on Tyne and Wear Metro 🚇

We want to help young people make healthy choices- they don’t need to see a load of ads for unhealthy food. Enough is enough.

Green jobs are vital for the North East!

I loved visiting Low Carbon Materials, they’re real innovators creating building materials that absorb carbon.

I’m proud they’ve won the BE100 SCALE competition at the @blueearthsummit.bsky.social! They’re putting the region on the map! Congratulations.

It’s half term and it’s time for more family adventures!

🚌 Remember- Kids Go Free when travelling with an adult on the bus, Shields Ferry and Metro during half term!

🌳 That’ll make exploring our beautiful region during the holidahs even more affordable.

We’re backing the award-winning Ad Gefrin in Wooler with our Events and Festivals fund. They have an exciting Yule celebration planned.

This is all about bringing a community together, welcoming visitors and celebrating the food, heritage and culture of our North East.

Sophie is smashing the stereotype of what a construction worker looks like! 👷‍♀️

It was brilliant chatting to her about her career at @bellwayhomes and how she’s helping shape the future of house building.🏠

She’s a role model for other women striving for success in this growing industry.💪🏽

Our New Deal for North East Workers will make our region the best place to work.

That means skills courses so young people can get a 1st job, help to climb the career ladder and support if you want to get back into work.

So people across our region can get a good day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

Moor Farm roundabout on the A19 needs an upgrade!

Fixing it will:

🏘️ Unlock thousands of new homes
🚑 Make it quicker and easier to access the hospital at Cramlington
🚘 Ease traffic for thousands each day

@emmafoodymp.bsky.social and I are pushing this hard and will continue to until it’s sorted!

The Northumberland Line stations need to open asap!

It can take 12 weeks after a station is complete for trains to stop - we can’t wait that long.

I’ve written to Network Rail with Ian Lavery & @emmafoodymp.bsky.social to urge them to move faster so passengers can take advantage of the new line.

I met some fab women in Wallsend recently who are smashing misconceptions about what a construction worker looks like 👷‍♀️

Bellway are bringing more women into house building and it's paying off.

As we build more homes than ever, talented women are shaping how and thriving in a male dominated sector!

To our Jewish friends and neighbours across the North East. Now is the time for the people of our region to do what we do best - unite and stand together in solidarity, against hate and division.
October 3, 2025 at 11:41 AM
This is patriotism. 🇬🇧

This is pride.

This is unity.

This is a city and a region saying loud and clear- no to racism and no to a far right agenda seeking to divide us.

So much love for our place and our people today. Thank you to everyone who came out and showed who we are.❤️

Young people growing up in the North East deserve their part in a future driven by AI.

It was brilliant to speak to apprentices with Tech Secretary Liz Kendall at Sage.

They’re a key part of our new AI Growth Zone in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The North East is truly leading the way!

We couldn’t stand by and watch one of Durham’s iconic bridges risk closure.

We’ll be investing £7.5m to get Baths Bridge back up to scratch for generations to come!
