It's never reallt been about immigration control. It has been about normalizing the presence of the Trump Gestapo in Blue Cities and States so when the midterm arrive they will be there to insure that the voter's votes don't count either by intimidation or by shutting down the polls

So there's a twist no one expected. Made possible by a the flawed "logic" of members of SCOTUS that didn't have the foresight to anticipate that a corrupt psychopathic egomaniac could ever enter the White House (so of course they would bestow blanket immunity for) doing insane things as POTUS.
