Bovino confirmed today on-air with Bash that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are back on the streets. No psych eval, no mental health assessment, no paid leave.

We have to see the logic of the killings as well as the killings themselves. The horror is a truth in itself. But it is also a sign of a political logic, one known from the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century.

Opinion | ICE is clearly out of control. This week the Senate can actually do something about it.
Alex Pretti's shooting in Minneapolis turned Senate Democrats against ICE and DHS funding at a pivotal moment, with another shutdown looming.

Senate Dems needn’t come to agreement on everything right now. That’s a path to the lowest common denominator. They simply have to agree to filibuster DHS approps. As to which of a host of anti-brutality and anti-authoritarian proposals to advance, let a thousand flowers bloom.
