It’s 4 years since we lost my wonderful dad, and as he was and I remain a silly creature, I thought I’d share something silly that touched me. When I was a teen I bought back this King Ghidorah toy for him from a trip to San Fransisco.

Thanks! This was a replacement they sent me for one that warped and so I sealed the wells on this one with nail polish and treated myself to some tiny tubes of better quality paint than the ones that came with it. Never used professional quality watercolour before and I’m loving how well it layers!
A tiny 8 well palette with 8 5ml tubes of winsor and newton paint around it like sun rays. Clockwise they are winsor lemon, winsor blue green hue, permanent rose, winsor violet, burnt sienna, winsor red, winsor blue red hue and Indian yellow deep.

Got a tiny palette recently and treated myself to some nice paints to put in it to give myself a low stakes place to do some art for myself. Test doodle to break in the book from last night and remind myself I don’t have to do complicated serious things here, and my bento from my lunch break today

Last night had a lot of chopping (my knife skills are ok but still mid enough that match sticking things still takes a while) but now I have a bunch more dishes for the fridge and freezer. I know I don’t HAVE to make OJ carrots into flowers but they are so cute when I do so can’t help myself.

Realised I didn’t get around to sharing this. 18th birthday commission for a friend’s child, it was lovely to get to try and capture so many little elements of their past and personality.

Trying to add more protein and fibre to my bento so I don’t crash as hard mid afternoon and oops I bought a new slightly bigger magewappa box to help me. A new shape to play with! Plus now I gotta make nice lunches or the new box will be sad.
A round dark wooden bento box on a seagrass mat. It has 3 compartments. The largest has purple rice with edamame, marmalade chicken and peppers and a boiled egg with togarashi. One part has simmered kabocha pumpkin with ginger and a little cherry tomato, and the final has teriyaki mushrooms and broccoli florets.

Been struggling a bit lately but managed to make myself cook a good dinner and get a bit self-care cute with it once I was going, to remind myself I can have nice things.

Not too fancily arranged because I just cooked all the veg with the noodles for minimum washing up & it only taking like 10mins

Watching the @drawfeeshow.com gang talk about realising that I am a fan (of course I am they’re great) and @atnathanyaffe.bsky.social pointing out that I could be watching at any time was delightfully surreal & really tickled me so I had to draw this last night when I should have been going to bed

Bentoposting time again! Cause I’m still crawling out of a bit of a hole on selfcare, I bought myself pre-cooked chicken and then made batches of 3 very easy but tasty side dishes last night.
A 2 part black bento box on a woven mat. The small side has rice mixed with quinoa, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts and gochujang carrot salad, decorated with small basil leaves and tiny nori stars. The larger side has seasoned cooked chicken, pickled cucumber and mushrooms with garlic and black pepper, with a tiny red tomato.
