Wherever you are in your genealogy journey--a hobbyist, a professional, or somewhere in between--what is your area of expertise? Your superpower? Your passion? In other words, what could you confidently teach a beginner?

Think skills, records sets, specialties, knowledge. My response in comments.

The irony of Lunar Year 2025 being the Year of the Snake is not lost on me. Anyone else?

Check your social media accounts. I found out I was being followed on the book of faces by the FOTUS & had follow requests on my locked-down instapot account by the hillbilly and the alabaster house. These are not transitioned by the former folks' accounts, which I still follow & which are archived.

I don't identify myself in my profile as a Washington State Employee since I'm not engaging here in an official capacity. But today, I want to state how proud I am to have served my nearly ten years in state service under outgoing Gov. Jay Inslee. He left a proud legacy.

Second Sunday of Advent: Peace

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE, good will toward men.'" --Luke 2:13, 14

I'm not a fan of winter. That being said, I love this idea of embracing the season you are in. Read more at lifewithdee.com/romanticize-....

Latest read. The Forbidden Garden by Simon Parking. A true story of the botanists at the world’s first seed bank who faced an impossible choice during the Siege of Leningrad: eat the collection to prevent starvation or protect their life’s work to help end world hunger? #booksky #readingnow

Today is the first Sunday of #Advent. In the liturgical tradition, one candle is lit to represent Hope.

"A thrill of HOPE, the weary world rejoices..."

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him." Romans 15:13

Now, more than ever, we need #hope.

Happy Thanksgiving from Northwest Oregon. Spending time with my sister's family and nephew's in-laws.

I tried something new today, #acupuncture for plantar fasciitis in one foot! I think it's going to work for me, but will likely take a few sessions before I see results, according to my provider. Anyone else here tried it? What were your results?

Pancreatic cancer is the 12th most common cancer worldwide, but it’s the 3rd leading cause of cancer death on average in countries with Very High Human Development Index (HDI).
My dad lived 4 1/2 months after diagnosis, passing on 11/2/2019. It is a vicious disease. Learn more: tinyurl.com/m8ea2mts.

Today's #whatmakesmehappy: @ lunch our Wellness Committee had all kinds of craft supplies to make holiday ornaments. This tiny wooden tree is only 2 inches high. I painted it, applied white glitter for snow, & fuzzy pom poms w/some gold confetti for the stars. Was good to connect w/friends & create.

I meant to post this yesterday as my #whatmakesmehappy post. We had Friendsgiving at work. This is the first wave. It was so nice to see lots of work friends and to meet the many new folks in person. Remote work has definitely changed how we interact.

Something that made me smile today: pictures my grandkids drew of me that live in my home office space.

It's not a *thing* that makes me happy here; it's remembering how my desk has been cluttered and disorganized for a long time. I've been slowly working on this area for about a year. That is why looking at this mini bookcase brings me joy.
