I read earlier today an article by Dan Neidle arguing that wealth taxes don’t work because they can be avoided and stunt growth. In the meantime our kids are stunted by poverty and our system is caught up prosecuting petty crimes instigated by poor people.

It’s starting to get a bit tenuous now.

Oh don’t be. I’m pleased you get my mad reference x

Listened to it on a very rainy day in the empty stadium in Pompeii. Part of the Floyd exhibition. I was where the gladiators waited. An amazing experience.

My Mum had four kids. I was the youngest. This was back in the days when we didn’t have a low wage economy. I had two and now my daughters have one each. Our families are shrinking and the future is bleak because of this.

Well as Frank Zappa said ‘Hotel Schmotel’. Add Egypt. Does that work?

This is true, however you appear to be directing your anger at me.

Oh dear. Are you feeling a bit mangry ATM?

Watch this space. The truth is out there somewhere.

I don’t believe for a minute there will be a vast exodus of money earning enterprise in the UK. Unfortunately this is the usual Tory scaremongering making us side with the people who have no moral principles so they get their own way.

It the income they earn in the UK is properly taxed in the UK then problem solved. It doesn’t matter where they live. If they choose to earn their living overseas then good luck to them. They should be taxed accordingly wherever they earn their money.

I understand what you’re saying but if their preference is paying no tax to
paying some tax then we wouldn’t get anything from them anyway. I’ve dealt with enough tax avoidance schemes to know that it’s not the poor and middle earners that adopt them.

My sympathy. Having endured 27 years of commuting to London I feel your pain. My personal favourite was when trains didn’t stop at my station so they could arrive in London on time 😡
