This was one of our favourites when we were younger, so we've been reading it from time to time to our kid. She likes the pictures but isn‘t terrified by the story – yet. We’ve also been reading her “Bony-Legs” To be clear, we also read non-scary books to our child, such as “The Balloon Tree”.

It really sucks. For most of my upper-level students this is their only opportunity to participate in such a conference. Not being given an opportunity to apply to give a paper means none of them can get funding from my university to go, which likely means none of them will attend this year. 😔

I’m frustrated/irritated by this. But the really bad thing is that students from my university who are considering continuing on to grad school (usually in BC!) would participate at the conference. They don’t have an opportunity to do so this year. It’s a shame.

I see now that the website for the conference lists all the BC universities, you know: SFU, UBC, UNBC, and UVIC. This elitist bullshit is getting really annoying. You’d think that given the state of things in academia they’d be looking to make or continue relationships rather than break them.

Finished grading all assignments for a class and it’s not even 1pm yet.

Because Trump wouldn’t hand over something he actually owns.
