A climate action advocate running on a drained battery.

I tried to convince y'all that the constant criticism of Democrats was going to put the GOP back in charge, but oh well here we are.

Supporting Democrats is a lot better than living under GOP rule.
Something like 600 people have lost their jobs because they shared social media posts criticizing Charlie Kirk's rhetoric.

Trump just shared a post calling for the elected Democratic veterans who made a video asking for people to not obey illegal orders to be hanged.

Hopefully we have all finally learned to not ever trust anything anyone who has accused Democrats of supporting genocide again.

Senator Angus King must now match Susan Collins” cowardice with courage and call her out by name. More importantly, he must campaign against her. If he doesn’t, he is no better than she is.

Good point, as Poland has brought down the carbon emissions intensity of the electricity they use almost below India's and China's because the Kremlin invaded their neighbor.

There are different forces driving decarbonization everywhere it is happening.

This is a sign of insanity. All you have to do is look into climate change

"Anyone switch to induction and wish they hadn't?" they asked. "Got a new home recently and I can install either. I've scoured the internet and spent the last three months going back and forth on what to do. I'm still stuck"
November 20, 2025 at 1:21 PM
Not a pretty graph, but it is interesting to see how much Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has led to Poland reducing the carbon emissions intensity of their electricity grid.

They're close to bringing below that of both China and India who have not made progress reducing theirs sadly. 🔌💡

Most climate action advocates would be loath to acknowledge it, but the Obama administration's grants to the fracking industry provided the foundation for the advanced geothermal technologies that we now have available to decarbonize our grids, like these >3-mile-deep closed loops.

Nice meme use, but I'd advise you to include this along with it instead of just a link to the story.

I often get the impression that many people see stuff like this and trust their opinions' more than they do experts in the fields because it fits their preconceived biases.

That post from Matty now has 99 quote posts and it now has one repost. Does Yglesias have a burner account on bluesky?
November 19, 2025 at 9:07 PM
@alexanderfurnas.com were you aware some of those Sacramento anti-climate action "environmentalists" have a bluesky account?

In his speech at the meeting on U.S./Saudi relations, the orange wannabe dictator is at least honest and says, "I'm all for climate change."

Anyone who puts Matthew Yglesias on the left side of the aisle isn't aware of the policies for which he advocates.

After contaminating politics with his lies and BS, ruining the lives of millions of people around the globe by helping to put Republicans in charge of all three branches of our federal government, and making himself filthy rich doing it, Joe Rogan has now banned discussing politics on his Reddit.

Democrats passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act along with the Inflation Reduction Act.

Republicans passed the One Big Inflation Increasing Act plus their tariffs and war against fuel-free renewable energy are making it more expensive on Americans. #EnergySky

It would be good to have a solid definition of what qualifies as a lie by a politician and to have wiki-type site that kept a running count for the electorate to review.

This for example qualifies as a lie, which I'm confident that Republicans are more guilty of than are Dems.

We still have to learn about how to deploy PV economically both over canals as well as floatvoltaics.

Republicans' tariffs on steel might make floating PV more economical at this point. Long term operation and maintenance costs could be higher for floatvoltaics.

First U.S. PV over canal was in AZ.

Sheep get all of the attention with agrivoltaics, but I wouldn't be surprised to see hog farmers embrace it.

Also, getting connected to the grid can be an obstacle so I expect to see quite a bit of agrivoltaics deployed just to offset farm energy costs like this dairy farmer did in England recently

DOW Jones Index is down once again. If a Democrat were president this would be big news on our legacy mainstream media. Since Republicans are though it will probably not be hardly remarked upon.

It’s the latest in a series of renewable energy projects for the Kennecott copper mine in Utah, following the installation of a 5MW solar plant in 2023 and a second 25MW solar plant nearing completion to help achieve Rio Tinto’s long-term decarbonization goals.

I snagged that graphic from a post of a NYT article. I didn't share the article. I try to share as few posts linked to that fascist propaganda outlet as is reasonably possible.

I'd like to overlay these pathways onto that graph of "progress" since Paris.

We also need a new 1.6C target path.
November 16, 2025 at 10:55 PM
It is fair to say that far too many people have not done enough since the Paris Agreement was signed to reduce their carbon footprints, but it's not fair to say that nothing has been done.

Cattle farmers will soon be installing solar panels on tall poles in their pastures to provide shade I'm pretty sure. It's easy to keep the cows away from the poles by wrapping them with barb wire.
