Exactly David. If we can't live in a common reality based on evidence, there can be no democracy. Whatever the Supreme Leader says is reality. That's how it worked in Iran anyway.

I ask this all the time. But I do sense (just based on observation) that most of this comes from interests hostile to the USA. If they can break trust in agriculture and medicine, those are two places where the USA was #1. Use social media as a disinformation conduit to get folks to not trust food.

Exactly. It is 1.5% of the population, but critical to everything else. And I understand why they vote the way they do-- in the past the politcal left would shut them down in a heartbeat with regulation and bans on tech/chemistry. But this is probably worse.
