Also, Star Wars became very uncool in the mid 80s, very much a nerd thing. The Thrawn Trilogy was one of the big revivers of the franchise. Probably wasnt until the mid 2000s that it become more than a nerd thing.

Every fellow nerd I knew growing up in the 80’s had an Art Adams X-Men poster on their wall & TLotR books on their shelves. Wolverine especially was everywhere in record stores, which were like the pop culture epicenters back then. I collected IM & CaptA, but those were generally lesser known.

If you grew up at the time this was published, chances are you had a secret hatred/jealousy for Rusty Miller.
