Not universe related, but I'm in my WWI history phase of middle age-ness. Currently working through The Western Front by Nick Lloyd. Definitely recommend that so far. I'm going to add The Eastern Front by Lloyd to my list.

It's a rambling, but it pisses me off that we are trucking down the tracks of a Christian nationalist/fascist society so quickly and it's just another average day in the news.

Not going to lie, I would dread going to some of the Somali malls in Minneapolis on a service calls to maintain equipment. Usually run down, smelled, and were mice and roach infested. But the people were by and large, good. Doing their best. The property owners just keep things run down.

Others, certainly difficult, I won't hold back. But not difficult of they wanted things for free, but they haggled good. Rightfully so, and we rejected each other by and large. As you worked with them, you got to know them and understand their position, and they would come back for more business.

If the "white person" came in, they were usually the owner or manager of a larger organization. Most that came in were independent contractors as an LLC or Sole Proprietorship, just taking what business they could get. Vast majority, super easy to work with.

It's so frustrating that people don't see people as people. Since high school, and even between weather jobs, I worked in the janitorial equipment sales, repair and supply industry in south Minneapolis. Honestly, it was rare for a "white person" to come into the shop for services.
