All cops are bastards. Trans rights are human rights. Black lives matter. I may not live up to my ideals, but that doesn't mean I don't hold them.
Re-reading this gives me the impression that strategy is to Rome what clockwork mechanisms are to Greece.

Release dates are hard to change once they're set (e.g. when Nintendo brought the release of Xenoblade 3 forward they had to ship the game separately to people who bought the collector's edition) and neither party knew when the other was releasing until they both announced them.

My read is that Herb is sad because drugs are his substitute for a personality but his friend chose making a pot over smoking it. It feels like a joke generated by a computer, because the two layers of humour (he's Herb, "herb" is a drug thing; they're doing pottery, "pot" is a drug thing) conflict.

It's a wonder _anybody_ got into RPGs given how often the options for localisation were Working Designs or the guy with the best English in the Tokyo office.

The Gundam emotes make me think SD since they're so frequently off-model even in the official works that it's easier to hide AI slop.

Ganondorf generally turns into the giant pig, he just uses the more conventionally attractive face for selfies and Tiktoks.

Would it be worth mandating a new constitutional convention at least every (say) twenty years, even if the only "amendment" is to ratify the existing document? Seems like you need a way to grease the wheels of updating it beyond Supreme Court interpretation.

The obvious alternative to gerrymandering would be to assign districts algorithmically, with the algorithm being public information and as computationally simple as possible to avoid hidden bias.

Yes! I'm avoiding trailers etc. at this point to keep hype at bay, but I'm looking forward to it.

That's an invalid FDS disk, you're missing the deeper recesses in the letters.

Funny, I'm the opposite. I don't need another superlative to express that I like something, especially not one which pompously asserts that it's best-in-category, but "based" is silly so I like it.

OH but the write-pending flag needs to be cleared in the event of a warm reset, since the other reset logic is skipped.
January 10, 2026 at 10:20 PM
That much I understand, but wouldn't you only need to do that once?

I was under the impression that "Lock-On Technology" was reusing work done for the scrapped SVP enhancement cartridge.

This is just people putting Jocat on blast for saying "I like women" all over again, huh.

I've been looking into shaders today but people seem more interested in "CRT aesthetic" than the effects of a composite video signal which games took advantage of via dithering and such. I've been trying to get the MAME HLSL shader in OpenEmu to do my bidding; know any good presets or alternatives?

I don't think it's pain and misery so much as achievement hunters always looking for a harder drug.

I've heard good things about Crystal Legacy.

As a fan of puns I can only applaud.

They want to produce more games and are good at character deslgn, but as far as I can tell they have no existing properties in the gothic horror/fantasy space, and the amount of people calling for Darkstalkers to come back despite Capcom's apathy suggests there's a gap in the market to pursue.
December 20, 2025 at 8:17 AM
This contributes to the lack of will within Capcom to push for a sequel, but I think SNK is in a good position to deliver the game people who know Darkstalkers mostly by name and reputation have in their head. Unlike Capcom they're not burdened with the knowledge of what Darkstalkers *actually* is.
December 20, 2025 at 8:17 AM
Darkstalkers is an awkward property for Capcom. It has a bunch of name/character recognition but not a lot of aesthetic recognition, so people clamouring for a sequel might not realise that its cartoony aesthetic is difficult to translate to 3D, which makes a sequel a harder than average sell.
