Community Development by day / community busy body by night. Though here I will talk a lot about my 5yo & baby. Views entirely personal and occasionally a bit hot-headed - don’t quote me. Late diagnosed autistic. (She/they)
Massive moonrise alert - go look!

BUT ANYWAY I am here to show you my sewing makes too.

I’ve taken an 80s choke hazard bib and made it safe with poppers. It’s messy but cute! I haven’t done this because I’m skint - I am hand-me-down bib rich, it’s mainly adapted out of curiosity.

I’m claiming universal credit for the next few months because statutory maternity pay is not something I can live on (£807 a month). It’s painful and feels dirty and it’s absolutely designed to be like this.

1/365 of getting outdoors every day. Went to Aldi and the park 🤣. 5yo wanted to wear his hat on the outside of his hood. (Actually Aldi was closed so we went to Morrisons and I am now bankrupt).

There’s a party happening over the road from us. Off to sleep now, and expect I’ll be woken up in an hour by their annual grand display 🎆 (and then several more times in the night to feed the babber.) HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wondered why I’ve got really sore legs today. Realised that yesterday morning me and the 5yo had a kitchen disco and I taught him the moves to 5ive’s ‘If you’re getting down’ 😅

Feeling refreshed from a morning walk through Hazelwell allotments. I have a plot, but it’s also my shortcut to the high street. The building was a farmhouse in the 1800s and is now the committee’s office. No windows on account of not only the growth up the side, but the window tax too, so I’m told.

The lurgy finally got me. Thankfully, it waited until after Christmas!

I made 17 crowns in the end for friends and family - all during baby nap times and after bedtime. I made these striped trousers too! So proud of myself, and everyone has loved the handmade pressies. Merry Christmas!

No carols on the green for us this year. B really doesn’t want to go and I’m not dragging him + small baby on the bus at what is essentially meant to be bath time. Next Christmas maybe!

I did a Christmas Eve present for the 5yo this year which has been very cute! ‘SANTA NICHOLAS HAS BEEN!’ (Santa Nicholas is Santa’s big boy name)

I made these trousers! With fabric scraps I picked up at a fabric swap I co-organised last month. WHOLESOME.

Today we made: festive pancakes, gingerbread, mince pies, air dry clay slugs and disco snails (seriously) and we have peaked on day 1 of the school holidays.

Had our coworking space Christmas drinks this afternoon which was lovely. My tiny little Christmas tree came along for the ride and had a well timed nap! 🍸

What a gorgeous sight this morning! A rainbow all the way across the sunrise sky! (Not a double like the meme though) how magic!

A friend just messaged to say she didn’t open the door to carol singers because she wasn’t sure what she would do with her face.

I like social media best when it's a show-and-tell: find or make cool things; bring them back for the group to enjoy. I like it least when it's “Look ye upon this horror! Despair! Repent!”

I didn’t even know jade plants could flower - I inherited this from my nan 5 years ago. I think it’s thriving from neglect.

I’m trying this thing called ‘putting things back as I go along’ it’s pretty neat, you should try it.
