I think it is stupid that it's in July. Far far too late. Used to be in January which was fine

Our y12 parents evening this year is in July so plenty of time to gather evidence!!

We've got them on Tuesday for the next two weeks. So much better if they had been on Thursday!

Don Steward's Median site has lots of challenging questions on it

I taught it for the second time just before half term but I definitely feel it's a topic I need to do more on to fully secure my understanding so if you've got any tips I'd be glad to hear them!!

I know what you mean about Don Steward. I mentioned his site to a colleague (4th year of teaching) and he’d never heard of it. We then spent a lovely half hour looking at some of his amazing resources 😀

We've got a certain Mr Sparks @sparksmaths.bsky.social coming to talk at the Norfolk Maths Symposium next month along with @tomrocksmaths.bsky.social and Nira Chamberlain. It's going to be a great morning!

That sounds great, thank you

This sounds really interesting. Will you be sharing anything from your session for those of us who couldn’t make #mathsconf39 ?

Our highest achieving student last year got a 7 at GCSE putting him in the 1%. I asked him about it after results day and he said he’d focused on other subjects at gcse but then during y12 had really started to love the maths so did more and it all just clicked into place!

The table is v similar to the one I did a few years ago so definitely not a surprise. I think grade 6 students can achieve at A level but need the teaching time to be able to develop their skills & knowledge. Unfortunately with lots of content there often isn’t the opportunity to offer what’s needed

The priorities aren’t necessarily decided by the timetabler. Heads or trusts often make decisions that timetablers can do nothing about

Ours is done by an ex head of maths with a computer. I think we have more splits now because every teachers timetable is so tight with no wiggle room. It used to be that each teacher had some gaps once all the lessons were in (later filled with team teaching or intervention) but not now

I am pretty much keeping up with that list. I've had kids who've come through as teachers but only newly qualified ones so far. But yes, when it reaches grand kids I'm running for the door 🤣

I thought it was just me who was wondering what that was all about!!
