Frankenstein 2025 (Movie 📽️)

What a lovely movie. It had that Del Toro innocence and harshness. Very much a movie of his. The middle point break and the change to the creature's perspective were really well done and from then on, it was just heart wrenching and sweet.

Chainsawman Reze (Movie 📽️)

I liked the overall direction and the action sequences. They were very chainsawman-ish. It also, surprisingly, didn't feel too exploitative around Reze. There was this scene with the two watching the fireworks that was just amazing. I enjoyed it.

Wicked for Good (Movie 📽️)

This was quite the dissapointment. I guess it's the fact that it had to provide a payoff for the first part, and it just didn't find it in it. Songs were alright, I guess, but nothing as good or memorable as in the first movie. Didn't like it, fam.

Blindsight (Book 📚💙)

It was certainly an interesting book with very heady concepts and questions. It also delivered a satisfactory conclussion that ties up the themes and events of the rest of the book. I'm still thinking about the consciousness thing. However, it was just so slow....

54: The Beginning

I'm torn on the finale. The first part involving Rachel, the coping with the effects of the war and the political play against the Andalites was great and I loved it. But what came later... felt like pointless fanservice. I am glad I read this series.

53: The Answer

God... It's over. They are too far gone. Jake is too far gone. He has seen the line from A to Z and he has followed it, disregarding any and all consequences. All to end this war they were launched into. Animorphs is a tragedy.

52: The Sacrifice

Ax's arc throught the series is my favourite. This is a great closing book for him, in which we take the extra step of challenging Ax's essence as a human, an Andalite or as something that trascends his race and allegiances. Ax moves forward the best way he knows how to

51: The Absolute

Dissapointed with Marco's final book. Character-wise it was a bunch of nothing. You could argue that, since he has his family back, he's back to being a happy-go-lucky guy and that is reflected on this book. It did feel inconsequential tho. It was a plot-advancing book.

50: The Ultimate

Now this is a final book. In a way we close Cassie's character by showing just how much she has conceded, how much she has lost herself and how much she has allowed herself to do. HOWEVER at the very end of the book she shows herself as still principled (by ruining it all)

49: The Diversion

As Tobias' last book, it was just alright. It's nice to having him reunite with his mom, and now be in a better position than Jake family-wise. However this felt more like a plot-advancing book that happened to be a Tobias book. Jake's side seems more interesting.

48: The Return

Well, that was bleak. Rachel's closing book certainly hammered home the tragedy of her character, in a book mainly about being tempted by power, remembering her humanity, and contextualizing as best as possible her actions so far. At the end of the day, she is just a victim

Weapons (Movie 📽️)

Quite a ride this was. It was kind of a horror movie, kind of a character-driven story, kind of a tragedy, and kind of an allegory. It kept transforming and leading you in with its presentation. It also leaves you with a knot in your stomach by the end of it.

Caught Stealing (Movie 📽️)

Very interesting tone throughout. The movie was tragic and exciting, and also funny and amusing. The characters were great and the unfolding of events was pretty smooth and dynamic. I enjoyed my time watching it.

The Ellimist Chronicles

This is easily the best book so far. Kinda nuts that the chronicles books just kept getting better. This can be a stand-alone sci-fi story and I would still love it. It's so sad, mysterious, dispairing, messed up, imaginative... It kinda floored me.

47: The Resistance

I liked the parallels to an actual war scenario we got, and that the theme was pretty much: horrors of war. It's a bleak look at where we've arrived after all this time, and how the end is nearing.

Little Miss Sunshine (Movie 📽️)

I've watched this before, but damn it, I still love it so much. It's such a heartfelt story about a family, its imperfections, its flawed relationships, but most importantly its growth and the love they have for one another. Add on top the BANGER of an OST.

The Fifth Element (Movie 📽️)

While it has some "of its time" weird and problematic elements, I think this movie is so imaginative, with such a rich world, and so many interesting ideas and stuff going on that it truly stands tall as a modern classic for Sci-Fi.

46: The Deception

Man... It didn't have to be like this. Tragically closing (kinda) Ax's character, he is thrown into the brutality of human war, and comes out on the other side with a depressing realization: I am the alien. I didn't want his arc pushed this far, it feels wrong.

Oh it's on now. It's finally time to race to the finish line, starting with the bittersweet reunion of Marco's family. Indeed, things have changed a lot since the beginning. The emotional moments carry this book, and the last chapter was great. This is me buckling in.

Another Cassie anxiety-inducing book, where shit keeps hitting the fan, now in Australia! It was an entertaining read, I'll admit, but it felt a bit repetitive, and too thematically reminiscent of her previous books. It was alright.

Fantastic 4 (Movie 📽️)

This one took me by surprise. The retro futuristic feel of the movie was vibrant and pretty unique within the current superhero meta. The movie really peaks at the middle point, with a great chase scene. The ending was alright. Fun movie overall.

Superman (Movie 📽️)

I really enjoyed this take on Superman, which is kind of a more classical one. The beginning is a bit jarring, but once you get into the world, this movie is fun, filled with good characters and a lovely plot. Wanna watch it again.

43: The Test

What a place we've arrived at, where mass genocide is now on the table for our heroes. A haunting book on many fronts, one being Tobias dealing with the mental scars of his torture, having visceral moments of vulnerability. You can absolutely tell we're nearing the end now.

42: The Journey

Another Helmacrons book. This one in particular is not great, there is a clear conflicting tone between them silly guys and the whole journey inside Marco, and the horrors of being consumed by acid, or one of the boys maybe dying. Quite forgetable tbh.

41: The Familiar

VERY weird book lore-wise (wtf even happened), but it makes sense theme-wise as a Jake book. This is no longer a decisions book, this is a consequences book. Jake comes face to face with what comes from his decisions, in a very fascinating alternate world. So dispairing.
