Here is the Latest satellite imagery (NOAA-18 and METOP-C and the European satellite) shows the current weather picture across Cornwall. As you can see, the mainland is experiencing overcast skies and mizzle, while the Isles of Scilly are currently enjoying some sunshine.!

Recent reports indicate that hemlock roots have started washing up on the beaches in the Fistral and Little Fistral areas of Newquay. These roots can be easily mistaken for parsnips due to their similar appearance and aroma, but they pose a significant risk as they are highly toxic to animals.

🍃The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind, in effect from Friday at midnight until 11:59 PM. This advisory is in response to the impending approach of Storm Éowyn.

⚠️ Storm Éowyn ⚠️

The Met Office has officially named Storm Éowyn, which is projected to impact much of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly starting Friday and continuing into Saturday. Residents can expect strong winds, with wind gusts reaching between 40 and 90+ mph in certain areas.

Here's the latest satellite images from the METOP-B from @dundeesat.bsky.social and the European satellite. Thankfully the cloud is shifting leaving most of us with some sunshine once again. This doesn't happen very often so d enjoy that bit of vitamin D from the sun.

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are enjoying a mostly dry day under a blanket of overcast skies, but don’t get too comfortable, scattered showers are starting to pop up in a few spots as the afternoon progresses. Stay alert; you might need your umbrella!

An update on the current status of Storm Darragh. As indicated by the latest satellite imagery, Darragh is now positioned just off the western coast of Ireland. We are beginning to observe an increase in wind speeds, which are expected to gradually intensify as the storm approaches the UK.

Here is the latest radar image; as you can see by the latest image, a few isolated showers are creeping through Cornwall this morning; some of these showers could be on the heavy side and have hail mixed in at times.
