Very different, fighting games with few balance patches have had a long storied history of very wide meta shifts based entirely on growth in player knowledge.

But also consider, if things are so broken so regularly you need a patch every 30 ish days, the people patching the game are the problem.

You don't know what is broken if the game state only exists for a collection of weeks.

It is a team fighting game with very few characters, people generally are not counter picking and it wouldn't make much sense to try.
