Just explained this elsewhere, but the issue isn't the vendor it's the style of gate. The time to "reverse" for exiting and entering passengers is what causes the bottleneck. In stations with big mezzanines where you can put in a ton of these it's manageable, but won't work in most of the system

Lol fucking child.

Transit advocate obsession with fare evasion is a brain disease. Stop setting money on fire and making life worse for everyone else because you hate kids and poor people.

Cool. Gonna @ you every time the exact opposite happens to me when they start rolling these out at stations that can't support them 👍 bsky.app/profile/jere...

If the MTA is limiting rollout to stations with bigger mezzanines where they can brute force the problem by just putting in a ton of faregates then fine. But most stations in the system physically don't have the space for that.

See again: jamaica, where these never should have been installed

And that still doesn't solve the issue of waiting on the gates to "reverse" before they can be used by riders in the opposite direction lol.

There is no "better" version that can fix this. All gates of this style have this problem. That's just how they work.

Like i just said, I've used this style of fare gate in other cities and they have the same problem. The difference in NYC is higher passenger volume and limited space at most stations for the number of gates you'd need to brute force the speed issues.

They said the same thing about the ones at sutphin-archer and it's a disaster any time i need to use that station during peak hours. I've used similar gates in other cities and it's the same problem. Unless they're one way, flipping b/w exiting and entering passengers is far too slow.

The first iteration of these gates have been a disaster at jamaica. Insane that we keep wasting money on something that makes it worse to ride the subway

SECRET AGENT was good, but the ending underwhelmed me

POINT BREAK is an aggressively mid remake

ZERO DARK THIRTY still holds up; excellent film; tough watch tho

WAKE UP DEAD MAN was also good, but a bit bloated

Marty Supreme tonight! boxd.it/6x3Ud #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

A ★★★½ review of The Secret Agent (2025)
THE SECRET AGENT (O Agente Secreto) demands an inordinate amount from its audience. Opening in media res, it isn't until the midway point of its 158 minute runtime that you're given enough to fully gr...

That fucking nerd has no charisma. That's why trump picked him. He aint winning shit on his own. Full stop.

Barring a full fascist takeover, the biggest obstacle to aoc beating vance in a hypothetical 2028 general election is the dnc stopping her from winning the 2028 democratic primary.
December 19, 2025 at 3:34 AM
Needs fewer cars and more space for walking but that's a damn good view no matter what 😂
December 19, 2025 at 3:21 AM
Lmao after years of calling their bluff on the "threats" of "retaliatory" congestion tolls it might actually happen?

I hope we raise our tolls even higher in response! Toll arms race, let's do it!!

Most of these places suck
December 17, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Small cities, suburbs that are too far from major cities, and rural areas are probably driving this shift, I would assume.

All good tho, all these new luxury condos I'll never be able to afford will magically solve this problem 🙃
