Funny also how those normally against identity politics or the politics of experience again lean into them when it suits. But the experience of racism, like any lived experience, can give rise to a variety of political viewpoints. The debate is political not experiential or identitarian.

It’s symbolic of a wider set of concerns, particularly of a world over which they seem to have little control. The same, I think is true of violent crime. 2/

I agree with much of this. Polls show, with immigration for example, that there can be a large gap between how people don’t see it as an issue impacting their own life but do see it as a major issue for the nation. 1/
