Airbus and Boeing engines are lighter and more fuel efficient because of those alloys who's creation and machining are closely guarded secrets. It's got nothing to do with aircraft skins. You can make thin aluminum at home with a hammer and some cans.

What? No. The technology needed to make thin aluminum dates back to WWII. It's not rocket science. COMAC can't achieve fuel efficiency of Airbus because it lacks the ability to make aircraft turbines with specific alloy strengths. It's always been a Chinese limitation.
