Bad art for good usually focuses on environmental messaging but right now there’s…other messaging to focus on. And I think the more of that we have around the city the merrier, wouldn’t you agree?

So come on over on Jan 27th, I’ll give you snacks and beer and art supplies.

This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

Part of the reason legislators act like they own the power we lend them is because they get to draw their own district lines. Foxes designing the chicken house! #Pennsylvania needs an independent commission. Learn more here!
FDPA Chair @CKuniholm's Jan. 7 Zoom presentation is now available on YouTube. Lots to learn about why #redistricting matters to PA, how current processes limit our voices, why reform is so difficult in Harrisburg plus responses to some PA legislators.

This week’s theme is works in progress (WIPs). I’m enjoying the Van Gogh shawl which is free on Ravelry. It’s easy, yet dramatic — what I call “big bang for small bucks “.

The two yarns came from stash:

We can’t depend on ex-presidents to let go of their comfort and *publicly* roll up their sleeves to help the resistance movement. I think we’re on our own. But it sure would help!
Send these four politicians, who are friendly with one another, petitions, letters, emails, satiric cartoons, or whatever communications that might redeem them from the further condemnation of history, writes @nader.org.

It’s a thrill to sit 9 feet away from a passing freight** train. You can feel the deep rumble of all that weight through your whole body. Amazing how much materials and resources one train transports! Note the tankers at the beginning were carrying molten sulfur, yikes!!

#Philadelphia #Eagles fans: the yarn would make a fun gift for a knitter who’s a fan — and the socks would be a great gift to others! (I have no monetary interest, just think it’s a fun idea.)

My husband has been an Eagles fan his whole life. He's now gotten the kids to root for them as well. I went through multiple rounds of adjusting this color to get a teal that passed his approval.

The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.

A “restorative” approach to handling conflict contributes to a generally healthy community. I’m very interested to see research-informed efforts to introduce this in schools in #Pennsylvania.

January 6 is not only a bleak moment for US democracy, it’s also Epiphany for many and, speaking personally, the 47th anniversary of my first date w/hubby. ❤️

This image is at the apartment where, 3 years to the day after our first date, we decided to get married. Handsome 1981 guy, swoon!

In truth—a Black American Christian woman swearing in a Ugandan American Muslim of South Asian ethnicity as his Syrian American wife holds the Qurans he swears in on, all while standing on the steps of a subway station—is the most NYC thing imaginable.
