Self taught engineer & inventor– her most famous invention made life easier, then paper bags were cone shaped. She gave them a flat bottom.
Her first unpatented invention as a 12 year-old employee of a cotton mill made it safer for workers at that time mostly kids-she is well worth a deep dive.
Tomorrow is National Inventors Day. Margaret Knight co-founded the Eastern Paper Bag Company in Hartford to manufacture the grocery bags. She engineered the machine that automatically cut, folded, and glued paper bags, making a slow process efficient.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.
